Organizations for Seniors
Each of these organizations provides resources or services for seniors. Most have websites with lots of valuable infomation. You can contact these organizations directly, or please call us if you have any questions.
Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) - CARP is a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mandate is to promote and protect the interests, rights and quality of life for Canadians as they age.
Chebucto Links - A community outreach association in Halifax, Nova Scotia that endeavours to enable older persons to live independently, safely and maintain the quality of life they desire in their community.
Community Links - A provincial organization that promotes age-friendly communities and quality of life for Nova Scotia seniors through community development and volunteer action.
Dartmouth Seniors' Service Centre - The Centre supports seniors and their families through services and programs such as Meals on Wheels, Medical Transportation, Catering Services and more.
Fountain of Health (FoH) - The Fountain of Health Initiative for Optimal Aging translates current science of healthy aging, well-being, and resilience, and offers practical tools to improve health outcomes over the lifespan-- for use by the public and by clinicians.
Group of IX Seniors' Advisory Council of Nova Scotia - An independent advisory body made up of nine organizations dedicated to improving the well-being of Nova Scotia seniors. Areas of specific interest include: Continuing Care services, medication awareness, pension and financial issues, housing and more.
Sackville Seniors' Advisory Council - The main project of the Council is the Silver & Gold Seniors' Drop-In Centre. The Center has a membership of over 400 and is representative of seniors living in the area.
Serving Seniors - A resource for services and education to seniors in the greater Halifax area. Its membership consists of business and community partners all dedicated to helping seniors and their families.
Spencer House - A community centre for older adults in Halifax that provides a range of programs and services to enable older adults to live independently, contribute to their community and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.
We Are Young - is a non-profit organization that works with sponsors, volunteers, and its community to grant unfulfilled wishes to elders living in the province of Nova Scotia.
