Food Banks

Chebucto Connections Produce packs - if you live in Spryfield/Sambro Loop area, you can register your household to receive one produce pack per month. These produce packs are intended for those who are low income and struggling with food insecurity. We rely on honesty and self-identification and ask that if you are having an abundant week and are not in need, please let us know so we can give it to the next person in line. Call 902-477-0964 ext. 10 or text 902-471-5119 to register.

Feed Nova Scotia have an interactive map, where you can find all the food banks in your community.

Mobile Food Market - low-cost weekly fresh produce markets in Halifax (North end, Fairview) and North Dartmouth. Check their current market calendar here.  

They also organize Bulk Food Delivery for cmmunity organizations, as well as deliver fresh produce to seniors living in residences

Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank - provides food or furniture to people with a proven need from the Halifax Regional Municipality. Tel: 902.425.2125

Salvation Army Food Bank - provides food support to those in need. Normally provides three to five days of food. Tel: 902.422.1598.

Square Roots have an affordable produce program. You can sign up to buy a monthly produce bundle ($7.5-10, depending on the size) at the last weekend of the month or attend monthly veggie sales with fresh produce for $1/lbs.
